MyGoodCFO — Financial clarity when you need it most.

Nonprofits & mission-driven organizations

Your board is asking questions.
You should have the answers before they ask.

Why we're your partner

Big Four experience. Real nonprofit operators.

We've sat in the seat, managed the audits, built the budgets, navigated board expectations, and carried the responsibility that comes with stewarding donor dollars.

Our support is grounded in lived experience, not theory.

The problem

What keeps nonprofit leaders up.

“Cash flow — especially making payroll.”

“I don't know which programs actually make money.”

“Board questions I can't answer fast enough.”

“Donor and grant reporting pressure that never stops.”

What we do

Program profitability analysis.

Which programs carry themselves. Which ones the others are subsidizing. Most leaders have a guess. Very few have the number.

Board-ready financial reporting.

Financials that answer questions instead of raising them.

Cash flow forecasting.

Payroll should never be a surprise.

Grant compliance support.

Restricted funds, tracked properly, reported cleanly.

Audit preparation.

We get you ready. We don't perform the audit — that's a licensed attest function and a separate firm does it. We make sure it's uneventful.

Financial oversight.

Someone whose job is to notice.

  • Income and expenditure analysis by program and fund
  • Donor reporting, including new and lost donors
  • 990 and compliance support
  • Risk identification and mitigation across finance, operations, governance, and reputation

What our clients say

“Thanks to James and the team we increased our charity navigator score and finally had financials that positioned strongly for Grants. Ben also jumped on several calls to help us think through our strategy — it's rare to get that level of expertise and genuine investment in your Mission.”

Questions people ask

Frequently asked questions

When should a nonprofit hire a CFO instead of a bookkeeper?
When the questions stop being "what happened" and start being "what should we do."
How much does a fractional CFO cost for a nonprofit?
Ours start at $2,500 a month. Full service is $5,000.
Can you help our Charity Navigator rating?
We can build the governance, controls, and 990 posture that drive it. Most of that score derives from your Form 990, which files annually — so it moves on that cycle, not in weeks. Anyone promising a fast score change doesn't understand how the rating works.
What does program profitability analysis tell me?
Which programs pay for themselves, and which ones the rest are carrying.
Do we need to be a certain size?
Under about $500,000 in revenue, a fractional CFO usually costs more than it returns. We'll tell you that on the call.
Who is MyGoodCFO not a good fit for?
Businesses looking only for basic bookkeeping, tax filing, or the lowest-cost option. We're also not a fit if you want reports without engagement, or advice without accountability. We work best with owners and leadership teams who care about clarity, integrity, and building something they're proud of.
